Xian has been relitivly uneventful compared to our maniac stay in beijing. this is our last night of three in the city.
we arrived here on monday afternoon after another average flight. as soon as we arrived we knew it would be different as we actually had to walk off the plane and get on a bus to the teriminal. after i pretty long drive to the hotel we were knackered so just chilled watching weird chinese tv and reading our books until we became rather peckish. we ate in luxury at mcdonalds, haha, we then did a bit of exploring and headed back for a early night.
yesterday we slept in for the first time in a few days which was good. after dragging ourselves out of bed we went to the history museum which was nicely placed just across the road from us. it was pretty boring, but an improvement on shanghais museum. afterwards we went for another wonder where we stumbled on a slumy market which was pretty cool. here we played a few games of outside pool, which i (luke) stuffed matt!! haha. needing the toilet we headed back to the hotel and then out for some food. after eating we found a nice outside bar that had the best carlsberg ever on tap soooo good. back to the hotel after a few pints and sleep.
we had to get up very early this morning for something we said we would never do............ a guided tour on a bus! dun dun dunnnnn! we set off and after visiting a very dull pottery place and a pile of dirt they called a preserved town, we immediatly regretted our choice. things picked up tho we got a full lunch payed for in the price and arrived at the terricota warriors. they were amazing and how they've managed to dig them up and preserve them is insane, a good experience. on the way back we visited a rather terrible model of a tomb and then had to endour a 2 hour bus trip through the traffic to the hotel. we are now about to go out for food and drink.
off to guillin tomorrow, should be fun.
love to all
matt and luke
