After all the excitement ofthe inca trail we had a night back in cuzco before we head to the airport to catch our flight to Puerto Maldonado and the amazon jungle, after the flight we had a bus trip to a port then a 2 hours motorised canoe to our eco lodge in the heart of the amazon where we would be spending the next few nights. The lodge was really good all made of wood and up on stilts to protect them from the rain and animals, first day we visited monkey island where after a long trek in the pouring rain wegot to see a lot of spider monkeys and some tamarin's, it was good but we couldnt take any photos because its was raining so hard and would of broke our already rubbishy camera. Next day we did a huge hike through the jungle the rainforest was so dense ans exactly what it says very wet!! Because of the rain we didnt see any animals it was really dissappointing but at least we have been to the amazon now. Next day we left the lodge and had to get all the transpotation back to cuzco again for a night. After saying goodbye to cuzco which was wicked we had to get the bus to Puno the majot town on the peruvian sideof lake titicaca, afetr a bight in puno we headed out onto the lake for our nights stay on one of its islands with a family, the lake is so huge and has many islands it borders both peru and bolivia! Our first stop was at the uros islands these islands were amazing there were floating and made entirely of the reeds from the lake in layers up to 2m thick, it was amazing to see how these people lived they only needed what was on the lake to survive. After Uros we headed to our island where we would be spending a night with a local family the island was called amantille, it was a proper island not floating and after meeting our new family we had lunch and had a game of footy against the locals it was good fun but playing at that altitude is not good for the old ticker, after we walked to the highest point of the island for sunset it was nice but dinner was needed these people dont eat enough we are permanently hungry. It was freezing on the islands at night so our room mate frosty hopped into our double bed in an effort to keep us all warm, it was great to wake up in the morning to find the two girls had took all the blanket and left me freezing my pips off!! Next day we left our family and headed for taquille island for lunch before heading back to dry land and puno for the night. Next morning it was time to get another bloody bus today we would be crossing the border into bolivia, after getting through immigration which was a joke in itself we headed to the small lake side town of copacabana, we only had time to grab something quick to eat here before we had to get back on the bus headed for La Paz the highest capital city in the world, it was a bumpy ride but eventually we got there, La Paz is a crazy place much more hustle and bustle here than peru but we really like it, we have spent our last few free days in La Paz exploring the city and just chilling out and catching up on some sleep, its been really nice in a few hours we catch our dreaded overnight bus to Salar de Uyuni the biggest salt flats in the world, the bus ride is supposed to be really bad so going to leave u to it now while we change into out travel pampers.
