Southampton uni's messy travels
Day 5 rolls round, and it seems like we've been away for so much more. After Krakow we headed south for the skiing/hikking town of Zakopane. A 3 hour train journey costing only 1.50 quid-BARGIN. Upon arrival we headed straight to the hostel/jail! Theres these massive steal cage doors shutting the corridoors off, very weird.
We headed out adoned with our SUGC shirts on, with lttle banter from the polish crowd. We found a small restaurant away from the hustle of the main street, and decided we would all choose random meals seeing as the menu was not in english, we all did ok except me. We knew it was bad for someone as the cutlery came out with 3 sets plus a spoon-oh no someone has ordered a broth. the polish love their random soup crap. And it was me who ended up with tripe soup! Rank i will say the least. After spending as little as time poss their we headed out for a drink or four.
A small bar opposite sellng litre jugs of beer for 1.5 quid -lovely. we then set about setting the world to rights for several hours and having our best night so far. We had already decided the next day was to be our trek to see the glacial lakes not far from here.
the next moring we were up and away by 7.30, and were at the foot of the trek by 9am. thre trek was advertised as 2hr20mins, but we were not having that. A fast pace set by all and we were up the top in ubder an hour and a half. Very sweaty and hot we were all going for a swim. It was freezing! A loud shout from a smart arse scout told us to get out, but just ignored him. We ventured up to the next platau for the smaller colder lake. The scamble up the path gave a fantastic view over the area. (hopefully the photo's will be up soon!) Walking back down and gettin back to the hostel we all collasped very tired.
Zakopane seems ok, very touristy for the poles, so we're heading back to Krakow, but not the orange hostel (seeing as we blagged our 2nd night free !)
Our next port of call is the Baltic see, 8 hours north of here, so the train it is! Hopefully some fresh fish. We're all quite bored of pastries and cheese.
