Yesterday we had a really long travelling day. We left Krabi at 7.30. After approx. 4 hours we had lunch. Then an hour later we crossed the Malaysian border, which was quite easy except that they tried to squeeze more money from us then was necessary but our guide prevented that. Then we had to drive another 3 hours before we arrived at our destination: the city Georgetown on the island of Penang, which is attached to the rest of Malaysia by a bridge.
We were quite tired, but we're happy with the normal toilet and warm shower in the hotel (had a cold shower the last 3 days in Krabi)!
Georgetown is quite a big city. In the evening we went to a food court, with stalls selling all kinds of food. Ronny had sate and even a piece of sushi. My dad had squid, and I ate stingray (the fish which killed Steve Irwin). There was a guy there selling sushi, god it really was food heaven. For dessert we had some fruit and other sweet things. We didn't know what most of the things were but we just tried them and they tasted really nice. After that my dad and I went for some shopping and Ronny went to a bar with some others.
Today we slept in a bit, dropped off our laundry and now we're going for some sightseeing. We're heading off to Little India, which is part of the town where are a lot of Indian people, shops etc.
Bye for now, and thanks again for all the messages. It is nice to stay in touch with you all so far from home.
Wim: van harte gefeliciteerd!!!
