We arrived in Vietnam with Dan and Becky, after getting our Visa $30 we got our free transfer to the hotel we had booked. We drove to Hanoi from the airport obvious signs of Western world influence. We got to the hostal and was greeted buy a Vietnamese woman who spoke perfect English, we shown around the hostal before we ventured out onto the streets, how dangerous Hanoi is the roads are covered in scooters racing around and the pavements were covered in parked scooters, hence you step foot out the door, your taking your life into your hands. We went to the water puppet show, a must in Hanoi and we got a boat to Halong Bay for 3 nights and 4 days, spending the last day on Cat Ba bay beach, very relaxing but dosey b***** me walked to the sea with my 1 month old Ipod doh. On our way back we were told of bad storms approaching, so we decided to catch the next train to Hoi An, as we enterd the train station a guy who looked all official looked at our ticket and pointed out which train we needed and how long it would be before we could get on. When it was time he came across pointed to the train then picked up one of our bags and walked to the train and opnto the carriage, we followed thinking how helpful Vietnamese are, he then put his hand out for money and wouldnt leave until we gave him a dollar, scammed. Hoi An was not as scooter mad as Hanoi, more bicycles, we hired bikes and cycled round the city and went to a war museum they had where American armour captured after the Vietnamese war was on display.

We moved on to Nah Trang where myself and Dan had fitted suits made for $45 each and it was really good quality and well made. we ate at a local resteraunt where the guy who ownss it decides whats on the menu after he's bought fresh produce from the markets that day, the choices are Fish, Meat or Vegeterian and it was really good and good price. We sat talking to0 the owner for a few hours and he kept giving us bottles of beer, result. We signed upto a trip to the highlands with a local guide Dat. We also went on a snorkelling trip where all you do is basically get drunk the Captain of the boat even as a floating bar.
