Wow, I really am behind with this blog thing and now my journal but lots of catching up time to do in Oz! Well just a quick summary of what I did and found in British Columbia besides a couple of really tacky xmas sweaters to wear to a Christmas party on Van Island with Tyler (who I met in Argentina), Mike and Amanda!! David (who I met in Thailand at a ping pong show in May) met me at the airport in the snow on 13th Dec and took me back to his humble abode in Guildford, Surrey, BC - very ironic!! I had a great time staying at his - thanks again David for everything. We climbed Grouse Mountain in snowshoes, I like to refer to them as tennis racket shoes, we saw the Christmas lights and rode the train in Stanley Park, we went for Vietnamese in China Town and visited the China Town Garden and most of all relaxed in the warm playing video games and I cooked him various homecooked meals (mum you would be so proud)! It was a shocking -18 degrees in wind chill and the snow was extreme, I have never seen anything like it during my time there but neither could any of the locals, I wasn't the only one complaining! I even had to put plastic bags in my boots as they were not waterproof, can you imagine trying to look good and save costs to that extent whilst clambering out of the snow?! Was great fun tho and plenty of opportunities to have snowball fights! I met Barry in the middle of the week, my friend from back home who was travelling the otha way around the world - we had an amazing Thai meal that night and he introduced me to a couple of people he had met who lived there on his travels - always bumping into people you know! At the end of the week I said goodbye to David and hello again to Tyler, David dropped me at his flat where we stayed that Friday night. Surprised, both him and Amanda (his girl) took me out for Sushi that night and I really enjoyed it, followed by drinking of course at one of the Cactus Clubs. On the Sat we ventured to Vancouver Island - it was a winter wonderland and a long ride to his dad's place right next to the beach - it was gorgeous. It was party time - the tacky sweaters came out to play and so did the DJ's, the night was great and only got better when we headed back for hot tub dipping then jumping in the snow then back into the hot tub - I don't recommend it - haha!! We made it back finally on the Sunday night where Tyler and I managed to get an Italian in at 11pm and talked through the night about our travels and ambitions - another friend made for life I think. 2 hours sleep before the horrific delays and almost cancellation to Fiji on 22nd Dec but I made it......
Unfortunately that was only a brief outline of my experiences here but all I can say was it was beautiful but damn cold!! Thanks for everything guys and hope to speak to you lot at home again from paradise. Love to you all and Merry Christmas xxxxxxxxxx God bless
