hello everyone, sorry its been a while since i last blogged it. im just quite lazy.
so last time i wrote i was sitting in ipoh, we ended up sitting in mc donalds for about 11 hours. which was a much more pleasent experience than it sounds. there were comfy chairs and a big screen for the football where i watched arsenal loose spectacularly.
so the bus to take us upto krabbi and thailand arrived in at 12:45 and we got on desperate for some sleep. we were just getting comfy, driving through this seedy red light district, when this blake came on and demanded for our passports to then be checked we were a bit bewildered but handed them over and we were then chucked off and the bus zoomed off to get some petrol. we were so paranoid and we sat there for what felt like an age wondering whether this bloke would come back with the passports and the bus would turn up. they did.
we got back on this bus whose airconditioning was broken and stuck on fullblast so we sat there frezzing and unable to get to sleep we then had to get off again and go through the boarder crossing and, after all that, we finally arrived in krabbi. we then had to get on a minibus for a 4 hour drive up to phuket, which is a seaside town that we would get a ferry to take us to phi phi. we arrived in phi phi tired and sticky after 36 hours of travel and got rooms at phi phi dreams. a tiny but cozy place. however two days later we would find a cheaper place 2 doors down.
me and coco went out on the lash that night at apaches bar. 2 for 1 buckets. which contained sam song this really potent thai whisky red bull and coke. did i mention it was in a bloody bucket?! so we got quite drunk that night and spent the next day recovering on the beack. which, my god, is so beautiful. pure white coral sand, palm trees, warm shallow water. that night we went to the hippies bar and i won a nutella eating competition!!!!! whoo! i won 4000 baht (about 70 quid) which was sweet. i ate nearly 2 tubs of the stuff and there was only 1 other contestant and he only managed 2 mouthfuls and gave up. still tho easy money.
the next few days, it it always seems to be with beachlife seem to mingle into one another and were spent eating drinking and chilling hard. i went rock climbing on the cliffs that overlook the harbour which was beautifull and we took a sea kayak out around the corals and to monkey beach which, as the name suggests, is full of monkeys.
we also took a boat out to ko phi phi lai which is where the film 'the beach' was filmed. that was just pure beauty. and we snorkelled around the corals there. however this was all tainted with te huge tourism industry which taints everything a bit.
anyway we're now in bankok on the koh san road. it was sad to leave ko phi phi but its also nice to be seeing new sights on the road again. were getting on a bus in a couple of hours to take us upto cang mai and then we're going to viet vieng which is in Laos. i hope the boarder crossing is ok. i'll blog soon.
