2 days in and in Hanoi first impressions are that for a supposedly communist country there are more people running small businesses than anywhere I have ever seen before but although there are cars there are relatively few and the vast majority in the city ride motor bikes There seems to be more equality than I ever saw in Cuba or China.
Today we did the sights - as in Cuba and China there is the myth around the great leader Ho Chi Minh and his 2 wives and his son are officially denied to keep his reputation as living a life devoted to the people of Vietnam.
Lunch seemed to be the pattern 6-8 dishes brought to the table for sharing but not all at the same time as in China. Usually several vegetarian dishes nothing too spicy and including a soup.
Afternoon water puppet show something different can't imagine what it must be like spending all day waist deep in water. No need for the sun tan cream today in fact light jacket but ideal for walking.
