Our experiences in airports have been quite interesting. If you ask our friend Ransom, he would tell you he could improve efficiency 80%. Welcome to socialism.
I say this because we have noticed so many employees that wander about the airport directing traffic that a simple sign could fix. Take the ticket counter lady that couldn't process our tickets because we didn't have the necessary 'formulario'. So she told us where to go to get this document. Lo and behold, a $10 fee comes along with it. However, we couldn't pay the fee to get the document because we didn't have our passports, which were with the ticket counter lady.
Now an intelligent person might ask why an employee might send clients to perform a service they could have done at the same time, but also send the clients to fail by keeping the necessary documents needed to perform said task?
I have come across these kinds of examples almost every day.
