Saint Peter's baldachin is a large sculpted bronze canopy over the High Altar of Saint Peter's Basilica. It was designed by the Italian artist Gian Lorenzo Bernini, and marks Saint Peter's tomb underneath. The columns are 65 ft tall and the canopy rises to 96 ft and the cross reaches 136 ft.
