So here I am in San Diego. Again, it was not a destination that I had any plans to visit but as I have heard so many great things about the city I thought Id give it a go. And Im soooo pleased I did as it is an amazing city. So much to do and see and so many different flavours here. I am staying in Downtown San Diego, in the gaslamp district, a hip n happening place. And its the place to be as its Halloween weekend and everyone is dressed up and in the party mood. Halloween is very big over here for all ages groups especially the young adults as its an excuse to party and do they know how to party here.
Unfortunately for me, I shant be partying as im so skint at mo, as forget to transfere funds from saving account to current account, thus, i was living on $150 (100 pounds) from friday till tuesday. But that didnt stop me enjoying myself, just had to do it on a very, very tight budget. It found a few fellow skint travellers and we all spent the first night in the sanctuary of the hostel and enjoyed an all you can eat meal for $3 (1.70 pound) sushi and mexican burrettos-odd mix but was all you could eat for just $3 so couldnt go wrong, after that we had a chill out night in front of the box watching movies, so a quiet, relaxing night.
I had met up with really cool Belguim lady called Ellen and the next day we spent walking the city, discovering that it had to offer, and I was pleasantly surprised. We walked through downtown, amoungst all the highrise building of commerse and consumerism, and discovered a little treasure, little Italy, full of small, restuarants and markets and dellies, had so much character and a really good vibe. Then we walked to the harbour area and enjoyed an icecream and a few beers. Then, as we were walking back, we passed a little pub/restuarant, dirty looking, but the smell of the food coming out of there was amazing, so we went inside and to our surprise it was the place in which top gun, which starred Tom Cruise, was shot it. So we enjoyed a few more beers, but unfortunately Tom Cruise didnt turn up-doh!
So after that we were quite merry and decided to go to Hooters, the famous public house company that is usually full of men as all teh waitresses wear next to no clothers. So we thought pub full of men-bargain! And to our shock it was full of women aswell and some children-go figure, thats america. We had a few money beers than we run out of money so headed back to the hostels as we had to up early to move to another hostel in which Ellen had heard great things about, overlooking the Pacific beach.
So got up early next day and made way to the Banana Hostel, just 20mins on bus from downtown San Diego, to Pacific beach. The hostle was really grimy and dirty and full of surf 'dudes' but the location was amazing, it was overlooking the Pacific beach, which hosted white sandy beaches and amazing blue ocean, apparently, 'narly waves dude'.
The hostel was party capital, but get this-I didnt fancy partying! What I hear you scream-yes its true, I think im getting old and boring and all partied out, so was in bed by 11pm.
We got up early next day and rented bikes and spent an amazing day cycling the coast along Pacific beach to La Jollia, then to Mission Beach then Ocean beach then to sunset cliff to watch the sunset which was breathtaking. So all in all an awesome day.
Now I am sitting in an internet cafe downtown, waiting to catch the greyhound to LA, in time to get my flight to Mexico City at 7am tomorrow, 2nd November. So I thought id catch up with you all and update website and get this-ive actually downloaded all my pictures so have a look, but I didnt have time to put them in order. I best go now as it is 10pm and my bus leaves at 11.30pm. So this is a fond farewell for awhile id imagine as im getting a flight into Mexico City then a connecting flight into Guatemala City (again im gonna have to sleep for about 2days but im used to it now), where I start me Central America tour, that is takes 36days, starting in Guatemala City, then to Mexico, then Back into Guatemala, through Hondorus, then Nicaragua and finally ends in Costa Rica. I more that likely not gonna get access to internet much down there so please be patient as I will get in touch as often as possible, and if you dont hear from me in ages, dont worry as il be fine as im with an organised tour and will be sfae and please, please, please keep sending me emails, even if I dont respond, keep bombarding me with them.
Well best sigh off. So goodbye for a short while, keep emailimg me all goss. Hope everything is going well with everyone. I love you all and miss you all so much. Take care, speak soon.
