Oh my, where to start......
Today was another great adventure - a motorbike tour into the mountains.
With Luke on a semi-automatic scooter and me loaded up on the back of a Minsk with our Vietnamese mechanic, Mr Sau, our Aussie guide Mark took us out on a fabulous all day adventure.
Luke has only ridden a motorbike once, ironically in South East Asia. But, naturally, we did plenty of thorough research into the company and ride before going ahead.
Any lingering doubts were dismissed within minutes of meeting the team and a quick practice on the bike, after which we were ready to go.
Taking us through rice paddies, over an awesome rickety bamboo bridge across the river and passed small villages, we stopped off at a Cham temple, high-fiving local kids along the trail.
Following a minor pit stop when the Minsk chugged to a halt on the bridge out of Danang, Mr Sau had us back on the road and we set off onto the winding roads of the mountains.
It was a slow and steady climb of winding mountain roads. Our three bikes were by and large the only things on the road. It almost felt like the mountain was ours.
We stopped ocassionally at appropriate times, such as when we investigated monkeys rustling the tree tops (sadly we only heard them and saw leaves moving) and to take in the spectacular views of Danang and the Hai Van Pass (the stretch of road made famous thanks to Top Gear, remember the part where they almost drop off the edge giving way to trucks in the rain?). Thankfully our roads were much less treacherous which gave us the chance to admire the views.
After stopping for lunch sat under the branches of an amazing 1,000-year-old banyan tree, the heavens opened and the sexy wet weather gear went on.
The rain eased up at the point where we stopped off at a shrine and visited an amazing cave (Hell Cave), which was aptly full of some sinister carvings, supposedly to rid the visitor of any bad luck.
Such an amazing day, we've seen some sights and experienced some unforgettable things today! The views were indescribable; and being on the bikes was great fun. Best day of the holiday so far and we both agree that today goes into both of our personal top ten days EVER! Sweet.
