I spoke to mum yesterday and she told me I need to update my blog so like a good girl Im doing what Im told.
I am in surfers paradise at the moment and the weather is great. Im so glad Im not in England anybody I talk to there seems to keep moaning about how cold it is. I had a few uneventful days in Christchurch before flying into Melbourne.
Whilst I was in Melbourne I stayed in a suburb called St Kilda. Apparently this area is famous for coffee shops and cakes shops. When you walked round the main street they were everywhere and the cakes looked amazing. I met up with a few people who I had met in New Zealand and spent the next few days with them. During the day we generally just walked around St Kilda and went and layed on the beach. On one night it ws one of the girls birthdays so we decided to head into the city. Unfortunately it was a Tuesday night and probably not the best night to be out there. We went for a chinese meal in china town which was nice and then heading out to our first bar. It was themed as a kind of mental institute and had lots of wierd and wonderful things in it such as a hospital bed in the girls toilets. It was an interesting place but unfortunately half of it was not open so we couldnt look around properly. We then went to a club that was just a tiny room with a bar and then a huge dancing area outside at the back and we ended up in a traditional English pub so there wasnt really much dancing to be done. To round up the night we went to a casino and I won $40 playing roullette so I was quite pleased with myself.
As I have come to Australia earlier than planned I have decided to do half of the East coast before going to Sydney for Christmas. So from Melbourne I flew up to Brisbane to work my way down and then after new year I fly back to Brisbane before heading up to Cairns and out to Thailand. (Providing they have sorted there problems out by then).
I only spent two days in Brisbane and spent most of it just walking about exploring the city. I figure I am going to be going back there so will have plenty of time to do more then. On my last night one of my friends turned up unexpectantly so we had a night out together which was good fun and then I caught the bus down to surfers which is where I am now.
I have spent each day since I got here either at the pool at the hostel or down the beach with a bit of looking round the shops thrown in. I havent been out much in the evenings here as it is pretty expensive for going out. I am considering going to Sea World over the next couple of days and then Ill be off to Byron bay which Im really looking forward to as its not as built up as surfers and everybody I have spoken to says they love it.
