The minute the line up for splendour in the grass was announced in March 2013 we both locked the ticket release date into our diaries and counted down the days. With a bill including Fat Freddy's Drop, Flume, TV On The Radio, Alt-J and many more ridiculously amazing (and British) artists, we knew that this was the perfect excuse to finally make our way to Byron Bay; a charming seaside town which marks the easternmost point of mainland Australia.
Coincidently adidas then decided to run marketing activity at the festival which Sai would be managing which was wonderful news for 3 very important reasons: free flights, free VIP tickets and free accommodation. Sai headed up one day early to get stuck into the 53 boxes of stock she would be setting up through the night with her colleague Kaz and it sounded like a tough night. The next day kaz's boyfriend Leigh and I rocked up suitably boozed and luckily well after all the hard work had been completed. The girls were very happy to see us after spending the first night alone in the campsite and the weekend really started there.
The festival location and set up was perfect, it meant trips down to the beautiful beaches of Byron by day and seeing the most awesome live music each night for 4 nights solid. We ate all kinds of amazing food and drank wine in the Moroccan wine bar all hours of the day, meeting lots of weird and wonderful people. The festival experience was totally unique being able to party all night and wash away the hangover having a cheeky surf.
