Ok, I´ve started off poorly on this blogging process (been away for over 3 weeks now without an entry!). Our big trip started with a few days in California over the new year period. I´ll be authouring the majority of entries as we go forward as Jodi made it clear to me that I´m the communication consultant on this trip. That means using broken spanish to find our way around and broken english for updating the blog. Jodi will be the financial and logistics manager on the trip
I was exceptionally happy that my birthday was extended by 18 hours, due to the time change between Brisbane and LA. A fact which I was only too eager to remind Jodi of (e.g. "it´s still my birthday... yay!"). I´m surpised she didn´t back hand me after the first 36 hours of it!
Los Angeles - unfortunately we only had a day to spend here but we got out and saw what we could courtesy of those fabulous hop-on hop-off buses. Still, we managed to recreate a baywatch scene on the life guard tower, sample the hippy lifestyle in Venice beach and track down our favourite stars on the walk of fame.
The Coast Road - nothing like a beautiful coastal drive to shake off the big city stresses. Those widy roads were not so good for Jodi´s tummy, however we made our way to Monteray for the most low key new year´s eve on record (pretty sure we were both asleep by 11 pm).
San Francisco - The reason our coastal drive was crammed in to 2 days was to experience this amazing city and San Fran did not disappoint. Despite some wet and windy weather, San francisco was just too beautiful to feel let down. From amazingly steep streets (think off all the car chase scenes from Hollywood movies such as Steve McQueen´s "Bullet") to bustling China Town, Little Italy and of course "The Rock" Alcatraz - San Fran is definitely a place we would drop everything to move to (assuming jobs and visas were possible). The night time tour of Alcatraz was definitely a big highlight.

Louise I'm so very, very jealous. But also glad you have had such a great experience. xx L
Sarah DeBellis Hi Luke and Jodi, and a belated happy birthday too. I was thinking of you on the day so was pleased to hear you had the extended version. This was really fun to read. Keep them coming and keep us green with envy. Love Sarah
