15th MArch: After five days in Bangkok catching up on emails, laundry, McDonalds ;0) adn generally feeding up on pad thai and green curry we fewlo to Yangon in Mynamar for three weeks.
After arricving at the very new airport we got a cab to ythe guest house, even from that drice i knew i was going to love this country. Everyone was waving and smilling at us and the city was suprisingly much more built up than i expected - but not to the point of being spoilt.
After a few hours kip we went to visit the highlight of the city, Shwedagon Paya. It was at the top of a hill and was basicially a collection of golden temples that were incredibly beautiful and as the sun set the whole place shimmered. It really was quite magical. We manged to get attached to a guide there who showed us round the whole site where we watched people cleansing their years with the shrine representing their day of birth - mine was the Lion. The main temple top was encrusted in jewels and held the worlds largest diamond.
The following day we walked around the city, which was not quite like a city at home the roads were virtually empty - no rush hour there! Later on we got the 13 hour night bus to Mandalay........
