Weave just come back from watching the brisbane broncos thrashing the newzealand warriors? And we realised that we have neglected are blog since leaving Thailand.
So here goes... In singapore we went on the big wheel, (BIGGEST WHEEL IN THE WORLD) went to sentosa island via glass bottomed cable car to veg out on the beach, little india where we ate mounds of food off of banana leaves, china town where we were conned into paying more than we thought for food that looked like worms, got buy one get one free singapore slings in the center quay place, ate (a very small piece of) the famous durian fruit which even though it didn't smell so bad tasted like wrong cheese/moudly fruit/thick wrong custard/sick! It was pretty good and singapore airport even had free internet which we took full advantage of until we realised our gate was closing and final boarding was flashing on the screen! Had to run down a fair few travelators like crazy people to find everyone still calming queing at the gate, phew!
We got to sydney late friday evening, and looked rarther silly as we trapsed round in the rain and howling wind in shorts t-shirts and flip flops. We got a room in a hostel and for the first time ever were pleased that the airconditioning was blowing out hot air! We went for a walk that night to check out sydney and wandered through darling harbour and to the sydney tower. The first morning in sydney was spent cobbling together some cheap clothes to keep us warm and huddeling under our singluar unbrella from the torential rain. We made it down to the opera house as the afternoon light was fading and could just make it out through the smoke and mist.
But sunday we had had just about enought of not so sunny sydney so we Chartered a camper van called percy and headed for the hills, however we got horribly lost and didnt even manage to get out of sydney on the first night. We Cracked out the cooker in the morning and fried up some bacon and eggs and didnt look back. We had an amazing time stopping at diserted beaches and camping by lakes and cooking up delights on our stove and were gutted on thursday when we dropped him off. So we toddled off down to sydney opera house and watched a show!
WE flew into melbourne on friday morning and stayed in a hostel right next to china town, Melbourne was even colder then sydney and also rife with swine flu. We rode free trams and busses ate free popcorn and went to free cinema screenings as we had to save money because of the big fur coats that we had both brought. But luckerly early on monday morning we were rescued and adopted by a family in benalla who clothed us fed us, tried to take us skiing and showed us all the sites of victoria. Thanks again, it was ace!
Lots of love everyone, from Lucy and Rob XXXXxxx
