So I last left you in Austraila and since then I have done so much more! It has been about 6 weeks since I last let you know my actions :-S Sorry!
Anyway, so I last told you I had got to a place called 1770, here I went for a 3 hour Scooteroo on a mini Harley :) Was so much fun once I got used to it. Although it did start to rain towards the end :(
Then I headed to Rainbow Beach to go to Fraser Island, a sand island. Was put in a group of 8 and they were total idiots and ended up leaving our cool box of food out over night for the dingos to eat. But I got to drive my first 4WD on the sand which was really fun but it was quite scary having all these peoples lives in my hand as driving on sand isn't the easiest thing! So I spent a couple of nights camping on the island and went to see Lake Wabby. Lake Mackenzie where the sand was beautiful and the water was so clear!, the Maheno ship wreck and some random creek thing which we walked down. The last day of th trip we went to a tea tree lake which was so murky and cold!
Next I headed to Noosa so that I could go to the Steve Irwin Australia Zoo. Saw loads of different animals and went to the Crocodile show, which tbh wasn't very impressive as the crocodiles didn't do anything! The best part of the day was going into the wildlife hospital where I got to see a broken koala, kookaburra, tortoise and lizard who got treated.
I then headed to Bryon Bay to do some chilling and also headed to a place called Nimbin where all the hippies live! Decided against the cookies lol. Tried to top up my tan on the beach as well, wish I could have stayed there longer :(
Then I went to Surf Camp :) where I learnt to stand up on a surf board and successfully did it lots of times :)
Next stop SYDNEY! So on my first afternoon took a walk around the bridge and the opera house and then went to Darling Harbour. On day number 2 I went to climb the bridge which was amazing and then took my tour around the Opera House. Then I headed over to Manly, very quickly as I didn't have much time. Then I headed to the Blue Mountains, going to Wentworth Falls, the Three Sisters and caught the steepest train in the world! Then went out for a night out :) which was wicked! Unfortunately the experience back at the hostel wasn't so wicked!
So, off I headed to Alice Springs. Ready to start my 10 day trip to Melbourne! On arrival it was about a lovely 35degrees :) sunbathing time! After an early start the next morning I met my group and we headed to Kings Canyon, unfortunately in the rain! However this meant that there were waterfalls all over the canyon which you don't normally get to see :) then headed to Uluru resort where on the way we saw Fooluru, Mt Connor which from a distance looks like Ayers rock. Then the next day we woke up early to catch the sunrise at Uluru, however it was so foggy you couldn't even see the rock or the sun :( So we headed to the base of it and could still only see a few metres until midday when the fog cleared. Then we went to Kata Tjuta, The Olgas for a quick walk down the Walpa Gorge. It just so happened that the day we went to Uluru was the 25th anniversary of the hand back of land to the aboriginals so went along to the celebrations before heading to watch the sunset whilst having a glass of sparkling wine, from a mug lol. Ate camel and kangaroo for the first time as well, which was really nice and slept in my swag under the stars.
Next we headed to Coober Pedy, a little place in the middle of nowhere where there is opal mining. Went on a tour around an old mine and learnt how they get the opal from there original form to the finished product. Also went to an underground bar, but after being in Bath for 3 years this was nothing special, everyone else seemed to be impressed though. Went to Josephine's Art Gallery and Kangaroo sanctuary where I got to hold a baby kangaroo.
Then went to Quorn where I had my birthday! We went to Wilpena Pound where we hiked to the top of Mount Ohlssen-Bagge and then to Yourambulla Caves before going back to the hostel where we had some birthday celebrations :)
On the way to Adelaide saw some yellow footed rock wallabies and took another hike up the Dutchmans Stern. Then headed out for a night with the group as we were leaving the guide to catch a new tour :( So the next day I went on my wine tour, after only one hours sleep :) went to Jacob's Creek, Simpatico, Richmond Grove and Seppeltsfield, where I tried some really good muscats.
So we started the new group today and headed to Hall's Gap in the Grampians where we climbed Hollow Mountain. We went to Mackenzie Falls which we could see rainbows reflected in and then to the Balconies lookout. We walked to the Pinnacle before starting our trip down the Great Ocean Road stopping at the Bay of Islands and the Bay of Martyrs, London Bridge (obv not the real one), Lock Ard Gorge and the Twelve Apostles which I took a helicopter ride over before going to see them at sunset. There are actually only 8 'Apostles', they just thought 12 was a more pleasing number.
So, onward to Melbourne, stopping at the Otway Fly which was a suspended walkway through the forest. Then went koala spotting and saw a baby koala try and get back to it's mummy, but failing miserably :( Then onto the best bit of the day, the Round The Twist Lighthouse :)
Didn't get much time in Melbourne but decided to do the Penguin Parade and watched the penguins come in from the sea up the beach on Phillip Island. Unfortunately couldn't take photos though but I was there :)
NEW ZEALAND!
So finally in Christchurch! Did the basics, in other words the free stuff. Art Gallery, Canterbury Museum and the Botanical Gardens. Then headed to Methven to see Emma :) where I chose on the spot to do my sky dive which was really cool, apart from the clothes you have to wear, cringe! It was really good and got it all on vid so you can all see it when I'm back. then headed to the river for a BBQ and a game of Ludo lol. Scenery was beautiful! After spending the night not in a drom bed (yay) I headed back to CHC the next morning and just chilled getting ready to catch the Stray bus in the morning.
Kaikoura - a place to see the NZ seal. Was supposed to swim with seals but couldn't, then was supposed to go fishing but couldn't so ended up walking about 4 hours instead. Came in 2nd in the quiz that evening as well and won a $25 bar tab which was happily received!
Abel Tasman - A national park where a spent the day sailing from Kaiteriteri to Anchorage bay and back. Saw Split Apple Rock and some seals and was able to chill out on the beach for a bit and finally top up the tan.
Barrytown - well what can I say, a night of dressing up and alcohol, anough said!
Franz Josef - Went walking on ice :) in the rain, not the best of days. Walked about 12km on the ice wearing some ill fitting boots and crampons! The blisters are still bad now! Unfortunately the miserable weather didn't do the glacier justice.
Makarora - On the way from Franz we headed to Lake Matheson for a walk. We were supposed to see reflections of the mountains in the lake but it was too cloudy. Went to have a look at Fox Glacier, Thunder Creek Falls and the Blue Pools before having a really pointless stopover where there was nothing to do.
Queenstown - So on the way to QT we went to Puzzling World where we had fun looking at illusions and playing in the maze. Then headed over to the Kawarau Bungy Bridge where I booked for my bungy at the Nevis :) 134m of falling! Went out to World Bar and had a few teapots, before heading to Ferg Burger mmmmmmmmmmmm! So then I went to do my bungy, woo-hoo. Best feeling ever and the adrenalin rush was absolutely amazing! Then I went to do the Nevis Arc Swing with Philipp which we did backwards and then upside down facing forwards which was so amazing. Then it was Ferg time - no2! mmmmmmmmmmmmm!
Sorry I couldn't update you further but I have run out of time on the internet :( will update as soon as possible xXx
