PAK OU - THAM PHUM BUDDHA CAVE
Wooden sluice pipe shaped like naga (mythical water serpent) and used at Lao New Year (BUN PI MAI LAO) to allow water to flow down it to cleanse Buddhist holy images. The water is either allowed to flow over senior monks, used by younger people to pour over the hands (palms held together) of their older relatives as a sign of respect, or generally poured over friends and others.
