Pendleton to cascade.
Had a good sleep. Breakfast at 8.30. There were three other couples all who came from Portland. Discussed brexit and Clinton v trump. Breakfast was fruit cobbler!!! E
With small blobs of custard, chocolate and jam Followed by a plate with grapes and pieces of melon, a round sausage dish and fried eggs with Parmes and gcheese plus a sweet banana type bread. Very odd. Nice when washed down by coffee. Went and loaded the car and checked out. We walked into Pendleton but most most shops were closed. Decided to drive to Pendleton mill which weaves wool into blankets. We have seen these sold in shops throughout Oregon. The mill was about a mile out of town and opens at 10am. Lots of items but mostly Marin o cuntrpendleton mill send the fly t China where ey make the catches etc. The blankets are made on site. We found a great banker. Not too big and usable for the cats possibly!!!
T deign was ch Jospeh which was the name of the canyon we stayed at in rim rock. Inn. Very apt. The turquoises colour willlso go well with colour of our lounge. At $49 we bought it. Started the 160 miles to cascade locks. Some of the drive 110 miles, on I84 which goes through the open praire. The I84 is a sat road thspeeds of up to 70 mph. Huge swathes of land with mountains in the distance. Eventuallly we stopped bigggs, Columbia river for a comfort stop. This was the cssroads for all traffi including fries. We decided to cross the river Erie onto Washington state as it was more scenic. The Road is much smalle, less busy with super view of Mount Hood. The WA 14 was winding and meandering. Veerpictque. Stopped at Bingen which has one Main Street. There was a verge antiques centre where we spent a pleasant half hour. I could have bought loads but luggage limits came into play. Carried on our journey and arrived at the bridges thhe gods. This goes from Washington state to Oregon at cascades lock. The toll was $2.
The best. Western was just off the bridge. The room was great with river views, queen size bed, jacuzzi bath as well as normal one, sofa - fabulous. The hotel also has a swimming pool and spa.
Once we had got the luggage in went for a walk. Temp hot - over 75f. Not too much at cascades lock but found a good gift shop with hand made gifts. Walked to the river and had drink and ice cream at locks cafe. The steam boat is based there and a wedding was taking place on it.
Back to hotel. Had a meal at the ??? Which is right by the hotel. Not a good meal but lovely river views.
Watched some new series on to. Bed
