Where prisoners stayed. Dachau existed for 12 years. In was considered a labor camp that was composed of mostly men. Many prisoners were transported in and out of Dachau depending on how fit for work they were. 43,000 individuals were killed here, mostly by intense work and cruel punishments. This number does not include the people who were transported in and out of the Concentration Camp. It wasn't until Dachau's later years that a Crematory was built.
