Alamo Square, San Francisco
This is known as "Postcard Row". These gorgeous Victorians (called the "Painted Ladies") survived the great Earthquake and Fire of 1906 which pretty much razed the city. The square has pretty houses dotted around it and they are probably as famous as the Golden Gate Bridge.
