Yesterday morning I'd got tickets to the 9/11 museum. I'm not normally a museum person but because this happened in my lifetime I can really relate to it. In some sense. It was an amazing place, a real tribute to those who lost their lives. It went underground, using the space that was previously the world trade centre shopping centre. It had exhibits of some of the steel, fire engines etc ( see photos). And had a memorial of all those who died, along with their stories. It also featured sections on the stories of the day and how the U.S. Is tackling Al Qaeda to this day.
After the museum I got some breakfast before heading to the Meatpacking district. It is a really funky neighbourhood, much different to the tourist epicentres. Nice street restaurants, and quirky little markets. I wanted to walk the Highline - a disused rail track that they've turned into a raised garden walkway through Chelsea. It took about 1.5 hours to walk it - was very pretty.
That brought me about to about 30th street, I then walked up to 42nd street, along the Hudson River to the Beast speedboat ride. What a great boat - it sped up the river towards Liberty, did some tricks and then brought me back. Was a nice ride on such a lovely day.
Then I walked East back to Port Authority to get the subway to the Natural History Museum - not for that but for the entrance to Central Park. I walked through Central Park, past Belvedere Castle, the Boathouse, and Bethsade Fountain. It was Home Alone central haha. See my photos - see if you can spot the bits from the movie! It was packed... lots of people copsquatting and rowing the boats. Was a nice day to be in the park.
I was going to hire a bike but the bikes are only permitted on the roads in Central Park, and sticking to the roads you can't see anything. So I changed my plans and did it on foot.
After that I walked by The Plaza Hotel - Home Alone again lol and got a subway train back to the hotel. My feet were myrder so I treated myself to a quick bath.
Last night we went to Macys at midtown - got a few things oops - and then we went to Soho but there was nothing there. When we got back I went for my last lot of buffalo wings and ice cream. It's back to normal when I get back. No more fatty bum bum.
