So a Sunday free...what to do...I know lets just head over to Belgium for the day and visit the Christmas markets?
We begin our day at 6:20am at Embankment Station, a bus to the Ferry, from the Ferry another bus and by late morning we are in the Centre of Brugge! First impressions take me back to the Neterlands but as we walk a little further in I feel like I am in Venice in the town centre I am taken back to Prague. No this is Brugge...clean with a odd breeze from the canals...chocolate on every corner, beer next to every chocolate shop and food scattered everywhere in between. Lace stores, wooden carvings and soaps fill the shops as well as the market stores but unfortunately not much on offer that is not being sold on the same Market carts in London.
With chips and mayo in hand, engulfed into the small streets and along the canals that surround the main square. A lot of shopping done and even more window shopping the hours pass us quickly. Dark starts to decend on Brugge and ends our Christmas shopping in Belgium...back to the bus to get back on the Ferry and then a magical bus trip through the UK streets that are now well and truely putting on a magical display for Christmas.
