5 GO TO FRASER ISLAND
Early one morning we drove to rainbow beach
5 intepid explorers with Fraser Island in reach
With food, shelter & kitchen stashed in our packs
All the tools of survival we carried on our backs
Potatoes, potatoes, teabags and rice
a few herbs & spices to make it taste nice
2 teaspoons & imigination is all that you need to cook up a banquet & give us a feed
Each day we would trek through diverse forests & woodland,
swim in colourful lakes and rest on white sand
Cooking on the fire, we thought we were onto a winner, until we had purple goo and burnt rice for dinner
At night with a campfire stoked with branches & logs we slept under the stars to a chorus of frogs
In the still of the forest our buttocks were parting, disturbing the peace with the roar of our farting
Of all of the lakes we thought 'Basin' was best
where we watched a huge eagle soar to her nest,
Surrounded by sand, a perfect circle, breaking the surface was the head of a turtle
At lake wabby we watched bush for TV hours
in the night on the dunes we woke to sand storms & showers
We played lots of games and had heaps of fun
Yahtzee & cards until everyone won
We wrote most of this ditty whilst walking along
it made a change from Lorna singing her songs
There were times when our patience and tolerance was tested, there were fun times and tough times and times when we rested
All tired & weary when we got to day six, we walked to the beach and decided to hitch
On the sand super highway we didn't have much luck
to get a ride to the ferry in the back of truck
But eventually with the help taxi guy Steve
we caught the last ferry & were able to leave
It has to be said, a good time was had by all,
all the stories and memories we have to recall
A fabulous trip and many lessons it taught us
we were happy to return to our home at Crystal Waters
by Lorna, Roger, Stephane, Tom & Chad
