We left Roturua and headed south to Lake Taupo for our next stop.It was only a short drive of about 1 ½ hours. On the way to Lake Taupo we stopped at Huka Falls, known as Hukanui in Maori, meaning "Great Body of Spray".A great torrent of water, more like a giant rapid, plunges through a narrow cleft in the rock. The water here is clear and turquoise, especially when the sun comes out (which it did today). It was wonderful to go there and we took a long walk in the forest around the falls.
Lake Taupo is the largest lake in New Zealand and was formed by a great volcanic explosion about 25,000 years ago.Although a pretty city, not much is happening here and we probably would not have stayed but would have traveled directly to Wellington. We were actually booked in for two nights but opted for one and will leave tomorrow for Wellington and Teva, Jacqui, Kin and Theo!We stayed in a sweet B&B just up on Acacia Bay but we did not have internet access! So this blog will be delivered tomorrow once we get to Teva and Jacqui's.
Well--we are here in Wellington and my dreams of seeing my son, my grandson, Jacqui and Kin have come to fruition and I am thrilled to be here in their home. Their home reminds me of one of my first homes. Theo is gurles and smiles (I will take some photos of him tomorrow). Kin is fabulous--her favorite word is actually. Jacqui is wonderful Teva is in greart form. I am one happy Papa
Kin will wake us up early --so i better go to my bed!
