Hello!
So we made it! The flight was fairly uneventful a bit of turbulence but otherwise left on time and arrived early!
As far as our first stop Rio went - I think that 3 songs can sum it up:
- girl from ipanema
- copacabana
- itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini
Unfortunately the last one meant we saw some hideous sights on our strolls down the beach (much to sam~s dismay). Apparently no matter what size, age or shape you are it is fine to wear the tiniest piece of fabric you can find!
We had our own personal challenge in Rio trying to see Christ the Redeemer. Due to the massive amounts of rain it took us 2 days (and a lot of money) to get there as roads were closed and the cog train wasn~t running! Then when we got to the top the bloody thing was covered in scaffolding! But it was still a lovely view from up there!
WE also went to sugar loaf mountain, walked the beaches, wandered round town and of course had a caiprainha from the roof top bar of our hotel over looking rio!
Then on to Iguassu........
The falls here are absolutely amazing and none of the pictures that we eventually put on here will do it justice. We went to both side of the falls and have to say that the Brazilian side was amazing giving a full panoramic view. We also got extremely wet going out onto the walkway to look down which resulted in a long 1.5 hour v wet bus journey home for Sam!! (I was sensible and put on waterproof trousers).
Unfortunately even though the Argentina side was beautiful some of the walks were shut due to high water levels which meant we couldn~t go to Devil´s drop or go on a boat ride. ~I´m hoping there isn~t a theme developing here wherby everywhere we go it´s not all quite open! I can see us getting to nearly to the top of the Inca Trail and then them turning us round saying sorry the top is~´t open! But fingers crossed all will be fine......
Anyway we´ve just had a nice relaxing morning and going to go and get the plane onto Buenos Aires where we will see (do?) some Tango and hopefully pop over to Uraguay. Will post some more updates and put some photos on when we get chance.
