Corinth Canal
Built in 1881 and 1893 it is considered a great technical achievements of its time. It is 6.3km in length, 21m wide and 8m deep at low water. The canal connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea (cutting 400km off the trip for 11 000 ships per year). It also separates the Peloponnesian Peninsula from the Greek mainland
