We arrived in perth and met up with a girl that was on our tour who lived on the west coast of oz. She had offered to lend us her car for the south west part of our journey for aweek. So we had a couple of days to kill in perth so had a couple of bbqs oz style!! We also ventured to the casino for a bit as well as going to a couple of beachs around perth and freemantle. We then dropped the girl off at the airport who is lending us the car at midnight becasue she was flying to sydney for a week and started the long drive south. We halfway down to a place called margaret river which is a place famous for winneries and good beachs. We slept in the car for the night then travelled down the rest of the way stopping at a couple of places of interest including the southern hemispheres longest wooden jetty which is 2km long!!! We also stopped in bunbury and went swimming with the dolphins! We then arrived at margaret river and the beachs were so nice, and there was massive waves so was good fun watching the surfers.....we were tempted to give it ago but thought we might wait until east coast where we will be for longer and waves will be less big!! We were there for 2 nights where we did a tour of the wineries, chocolate and cheese factorys.
We then headed further south where we visited a cave called jewel cave, it was amazing to see, it had loads of stalagmites and stalactites and was a really beautiful cave. After this we went south and saw the lighthouse in Augusta where the southern ocean and indian ocean meet! After here we headed to pemberton where we did the tree top walk and climbed a tree called the Glouchster tree. This a tree where they put metal rods in the side of the tree so they could climb up it for fire watchs. The trees are 70ft tall and there was an amzing view although it was quite scary when the wind picked up. From here we headed to Denmark where we slept in a national park infront of the sea.
We got woken up by a park ranger at 8:30 in the morning and got told to leave asap otherwise we would occur a large fine. So we decided to leave quickly. From here we drove for another couple of hours to the Albany, where we chilled and went to see what had albany had to offer. This included blow holes, a natural bridge and natural gap that the sea had created out of the rocks. We stayed here for 1 night before we headed off to esperance.
The next morning we left for esperance where we arrived in the mid afternoon. We went to check out the beachs with a couple of french girls that we had met, and then went to look at a pink lake, although it wasnt very pink at the time becasue there had been some flooding in the area. The next day we went to the national park and to a beach called lucky bay. This was amazing it was the idyilic beach but with white sands and light blue sea but only with about 5 people on so was awsome, as you expect those kind of places to be so busy! We also climbed a mountain called frenchman peak which was hard work but worth it as the views were amazing.
The next day we left esperance to head back to perth this was an 800km drive it took us 6 and half hours and we stopped off on the way through to look at wave rock which was pretty cool, but we have begun to realise that alot of oz's sights are rocks!! Overall in that week we drove 2,500km so we were pretty tired.
In perth we went to a day festival here and saw sam sparrow an aussie band called the presets and fatboy slim who was awesome! The next day it was time for the trip north!!
