South American Adventure
St. Louis, Missouri
Hola de Peru!
Today, we left St. Louis at 12:20pm to fly to Lima. We are starting with a trip to Machu Picchu since we were unable to get there in 2010 as torrential rains washed out the train tracks. Then, we will cruise for 24 days on the Regent Mariner from Lima to Buenos Aires. Our most amazing picture of the day is that we managed to pack in carryon luggage for our month in South America! I didn't take a picture of how much we had stuffed in our Scottevests or that I am wearing a lightweight down jacket so as to have everything fit for both warm and cold weather. We had a delightful trip from St. Louis to Lima EXCEPT for the Miami airport. Thank Heavens the Peters had warned us! We had only an hour and forty minutes between planes and we had to make it from one end of the airport to the other. We started out by hitching a ride for what we hoped was most of the way. Not so!! We had to walk miles!!! We were hot and sweaty but we made it and it only took slightly over an hour. We got into Lima at 11:30pm (the same time zone as New York City), spend the night at the airport hotel which is only a walk across the street.
