The week in Fiji was lovely and far too short! We landed very early in the morning, so tired and bedraggled we headed to the marina where, fingers crossed, we would be getting the boat to the first Yasawa Island. It was already roasting by 8am so we knew we would have good weather for the week ahead. Our first stop was Coral View - after a 5 hour boat ride - arriving here made me remember why I loved Fiji the first time. Its beautiful, life moves at its own pace and the people are really friendly and happy. The other resorts we stayed in were Long Beach - my favourite - Kuata and Beachcomber. Had a great time, topped up the tan and it was a great way to end our trip together.
We headed back to Sydney where we waved bye bye to Timmy - sniff- who was going home and Sam and I went on our way to Thailand. We arrived in Bangkok around midnight and it was hot. Not a good hot... its really muggy and smoggy here and it rains a lot. We went straight to our hotel where for the first time in a long time I had my own room! On our first day we were overwhelmed and we had no idea what we were doing. A couple of days in and after moving to a hostel we have found our feet, are marvelling at how cheap everything is and have planned a short trip to Cambodia!
Our first few days here we visited the Kao San Road which is where most of the travellers congregate and where they have a permanent market selling everything from funny linen trousers to ipods. Today we visited the Grand Palace for a bit of culture, its huge and very gold! Only a couple of hundred years old its only really used for state occasions, there were hundreds of tourists there but we hired a guide for an hour. He was very little and sweet, told us everything we needed to know (at least 3 times) and didn't seem to mind pushing people out of the way so we could get our own photos.
Apart from our first morning here, have settled in quickly and can't wait to visit Cambodia! We then fly to Phuket to meet some of Sam's friends for a couple of weeks before I start the long journey home.......
