We are whiling away the morning before the boat takes us from Koh Tao back to the mainland (Chumphon). We've stayed here longer than anywhere else and 10 days have whizzed by not doing too much apart from eating looking over Chalok Baan Kao Bay where we are staying, sunbathing and reading. In a few moments of activity we walked to neighbouring Shark Bay for a pristine white sand beach and spent a lot of time wandering around the village deciding what we'll eat next (our favourite snacks are from the Pancake man, the chicken skewer ladies or biscuits & prawn crackers from the shop). This bay is a the bottom of the island and is quite sheltered - the weather has been fantastic here the whole time and it looks particularly beautiful at breakfast time when the sea has gone back out giving stripes of sand and different shades of blue. There quite a few long-tails dotted around and locals dig in the sand for shells (maybe mussels we're not sure). Most people come here to dive, as the underwater coral is special so it's nice and quiet during the day and buzzing with people relaxing by the sea with a beer in the evening.Since our visit here started with my birthday we treated ourselves to a Thai massage overlooking the bay and several large Changs with dinner. My other birthday treat (apart from a new anklet, a skype m&s birthday cake and a video of Jacob & William singing Happy Birthday in the bath) was a snorkelling trip.We didn't get around to doing this until yesterday (no wonder we didn't sign up for a diving course - far too lazy!) and we're glad we did as we spent all day on the boat in the sun with lots of food and had several great snorkels. We saw several reef sharks in Shark Bay (quite a bit bigger than the ones in Fiji but these kept their distance a bit more) and some beautiful coral with lots of different fish (especially lots of zebra ones like in Fiji and Oz - they seem to swim straight at you here expecting some food).
We are definitely feeling super relaxed now although it is probably time we left - too much longer and we could end up not moving on and there is so much more we want to see. It's going to take a boat and 2 overnight buses to get up to Chiang-Mai but we're so relaxed even that doesn't seem a chore!
