WOW, so much time has gone past since our last blog ... Sorry for all you commited followers
Heres an update on what we've been up to...
So we left the pops and bangs of crazy Valencia and headed to La Manga in the South of Spain, the camp site we headed to had been recommended by friends who stay there for months during the English winter (Lucky gits) however when we arrived and parked up we felt out of place ... the whole campsite was full of MASSIVE campers, no kidding, we had never seen anything like it, most of these houses (theres no better way of describing them) had been towed there and were perminant structures many were bigger than our house in Hitchin!! There were hanging baskets, pots in plants and astroturf surrounding many of them, even picket fences and mail boxes!!
Each of the pitches were surrounded by 6ft hedges so it was very isolated and private and after striking up a conversation with a fellow brit in the loos, as you do, I decided it wasnt a place for us to be staying. The conversation was going ok until i mentioned we were traveling in a self build ex-royal mail van, no most people we have met have found this very interesting and wanted to have a peek but this lady shut up pretty quickly and left, obviously we were not the kind of company she wanted to be keeping!!! LOL
Anyway after waking up early and paying our tab we left the '5* campsite' and started driving along the southern coastly road. We hadnt planed to get to Mums flat in Sabinillas near Estepona till the Thursday but after our stay in La Manga was cut short we decided we would just drive the 6hrs straight down and park up knowing we could relax with a toilet and shower nearby if needed.
We arrived later than expected at the flat and Mum and Phil, who had friends staying with them had gone out for dinner so we parked up on the beach deciding to find the nearby campsite in the morning to give the parents a bit of space with their friends for a few days.
Camping Paridise was not as cheesy as it sounds, it was quaint and quiet with a very sweet Spanish receptionist who couldnt have been more helpful, we went out for curry the following night catching a bus into town and cabbing it back and Josh met some Germans who donated some stools, a rollmat and a football as they couldnt fit them in their bags, unfortunalty they were leaving when we met them but we did get to have a chat and a laugh for a bit.
We chilled out for a few days at the campsite and then decided to go back to Mums flat and park up on the road outside, this was mainly as its free to park on the road LOL and because Holly was arriving and Mum and Phils friends were heading back to Glasgow.
Friday came and i squeezed into the car with Mum, Phil, Graham and Di as we headed off to Malaga airport to bid farewell to the Scots and greet Holly, we detoured via the shop on the way home and bought ALOT of cake!!
Over the weekend we visited Rhonda, some strange little castle, and Gibraltar, Mum and Phil flew home on Sunday whilst we were exploring in Gib and I very nearly got stuck on the wrong side of the runway whilst a plane was taking off, but managed to grab the flat keys of Mum and Phil JUST before they boarded LOL
Holly left us on the Monday and we chilled out at the flat, returning to Gib to re-fuel on gas, spirits and fags as well as exploring some fantastic caves and mines. Other than that our week alone in Sabinillas was one of complete relaxation walking along the beaches, reading and drinking at the local bars and sleeping quiet a lot :)
We left the flat (tidy - Mum LOL) yesterday and drove a couple of hours a long the coast to Vejer de la Frontera, we have found a beautiful campsite right next to a national park so we will be walking and sunning for a few days before we head into Portugal
Catch up again soon, be back home in a week
