Sorry for the delay...! We went to varkala which was this small place right on the cliffs edge and spent 3 days there and saw some amazing storms. We stayed in bamboo huts with a few resident geckos and a small army of ants, which would pounce on anything you dropped within milliseconds. The place also had killer waves and savage rip currents. The lifeguard didn't even look like he could swim, much like most of the indian people, so it wasn't much of a confidence boost to go swimming far out. The weather was hot though. We then got a train to chennai and spent a night there before going to mallaparam which seemed to have more stray dogs than people. How all these dogs survive is a wonder of nature. They are tame during the day and then turn into werewolves at night and howl and run after you down streets. Also there were pigs just chilling out in the street out side our hotel. I also got a cold which made me think I had swiney.
After that we flew singapore which was like landing on a different planet compared to india; no packs of wild animals running round the streets or rubbish all over the place. The city is the cleanest i've ever seen. We walked around and hit the midnight safari and saw loads of cool stuff. The giant flying foxes were amazing and the bats fly round your head.
After singa we flew to oz and stayed at Gilligans in Cairns which is like a freshers ball every single night. After 3 days there and realising we were spending money faster than we could burn it, we got a 'wicked' van which is basically a 18 foot road hog. It is our ride and home for the next month and we've taken to it quite well although lis is struggling a bit more than me. We're going diving on the great barrier reef tomorrow so it should be good. Hope all is well back home!
