Wed 20 Dec
Had a quiet day, but have slightly changed our plans and are heading to Melbourne next so booked the flights there. Had a walk around Perth, got our plane tickets re-issued (exciting stuff!). In the evening we went to Clancy's Fish Pub in Fremantle with Will & Jane.
Thurs 21 Dec
Got the bus to Rockingham and then a small boat over to Penguin Island. From there we went on a 45 min tour around Penguin Island and Seal Island on a glass boated boat. There were huindreds of pelicans on one of the islands, as well as quite a few sealions. Some sealions also swam over to the boat in the hope that someone would go for a swim with them. We went to the Penguin Discovery Centre and saw the Fairy Penguins (the smallest variety - very cute). We also some hising under the boardwalk when we went for a walk around the island. Afterwards we sat in the picnic area and watched all the skinks crawling around. There was a big group of kids who managed to catch one and out it in their teachers bag - of coiurse very cruel but it was very funny watching her scream and jump around when she found it!

Ed got up very early to go to Wave Rock. Lisa decided not to go so was planning on having a quiet day in Freo. Howver GMTV were filming their Christmas messages on a beach nearby so it had to be done really! Lovely beach - sadly a little bit spoilt by the hundreds of Brits & Scots waving banners saying 'Hello Mum' but it was good fun!

We took Will & Jane on the 'Swan Valley Indulgence Tour' to thank them for putting up with us for so long. The tour involved being driven around lots of wineries, tasting wine - it's a hard life. We had a very nice lunch at the Jane Brook winery, bought a bottle of rose from the Garbin Estate, had more wine and cheese at the Edgecombe Brothers winery, nougat at Mondos Nougat, beer and sausages at Elmar's In The Valley Brewery, and handfuls of chocolates at the Margaret River Chocolate Factory. Stuffed full of wine, beer and food we headed back to Freo after a great day out.
Sun 24 Dec
Went into Freo for a bit of last minute Christmas shopping...... for the one secret santa present that we had to buy! It didn't feel like Christmas Eve at all - the shops weren't busy, it was hot and everyone wasn't panic buying. Had a few too many glasses of wine .... ending in Ed spilling his over an old book of Will's (let that be a warning - never invite us to your house AND let us have red wine!).
Mon 25 Dec
MERRY CHRISTMAS. After thinking we may be lonely and destitute for Christmas, lovely Jane invited us to her daughter's house for Christmas dinner. We met Jane's four children and a few more relatives - there were 13 of us in total and we had a feast that you will be pleased to hear did include turkey and stuffing. 'Secret Santa' gave us a box of chocolates and a gas BBQ lighter - should come in handy considering the number of barbies we've had since arriving in Oz. We got a lift back to Freo' then headed down to the beach which was surprisingly busy. We both also spoke to our families back at home and of course rubbed in the fact that it is just so hot here.
