So the first part of the trip is complete in india and heres what we got up too....
We arrived in Delhi on 28/9 awaiting or pick up at the airport (which never showed up) so we made our way by taxi to our accommodation only to be informed that bombs had been going off in Delghi for the past two weeks (7 in total0 thelast only being on the previous afternoon killing a 9 year boy!!! our accomodation that we had prebooked from the UK thn told us that they had no room for us and we would not get a refund!!!! just great but hey always one to make the best of a bad situation we headed to a travel agent to look at alternative options outside of Delhi due to ther issues etc...
we opted for a trip around the "Golden triangle" which covered Jaiiper, pushkar & Agra with our own driver for the week and all accommodation included as well as Camel and Elephant Safari.
We set of for Jaiper first with our driver "Sanjay" (a god send). We arrived in Jaiper later afternoon and after settling into our accomodation we headed out to a restaurant called "Indiana"very good local food and dancing. On the 2nd day we went to the Elephaqnt camp reday for our elephant safari, Holly fed a baby elephant before we climbed a flight of stairs to board our Elephant the safari was very good and i would defiinately recommend it, sitting on the elephants head and beign the driver was mental!!!! We spent the rest of the day visIting the many palaces and Temples in the area including, Amber Palace where we got the chance to hold a python (only a baby), Hawa Mahal (the wind palace) and also the water palace. Onto the local jewellers famous for both precious and semi precious stones.... we both designed and ordered our rings for the following day and met up for a party with the locals that evening in there garden very friendly locals. We went back the following day to collect the rings but they were not ready so we waited over an hour but had to head off as we had a long drive to the next town and only had one day there so didn't to miss out on anything due to time etc. 4 hours later we arrived in Pushkar after a mental car ride the roads in india are crazy, the traffic goes both ways up a dual carriage way its like dodgums, full of cars, bikes, trucks, people, dogs, elephants, camels, buffalo and the largest potholes ever!!!! So Pushkar was described as a picturesque village, really!!!! the hostel was so grotty the village was like a cattle market and we got hassalled left right and centre.... we headed back to get ready for Camel safari which well and truly lifted the mood without a shadow of a doubt..... the ride was awesome the views even better this showed us what india really had to offer we stopped of to watch the sun set over puchkar truly a beautiful and relaxing moment....
so onto Agra a dreaded 7 hour car journey so we left at 8 am and arrived just after 3 pm the hotel was the best so far even had hot water...... We spent the evening at a true indian restaurant full of tourists. the following day we went the Taj Mahal Just how everyone said it would be, if you ever get the chance you should make this a place to visit. The architecture was amazing and we were like local celebrities, i'd say over 20 people stopped us to take pictures and one lady even put her child on my lap ( very odd) so although India wasn't what we hoped we made the best of it and enjoyed our time there, it is certainly not a trip for the faint hearted is quite a culture shock.... NEXT STOP THAILAND.
