Lin & Phil - Out and About in the Big World...
Hey,
Geting a taxi from Mumbai airport was a right b@!$ch. Theres no prepaid taxi booth so we thought we had haggled quite a good deal and got into a taxi. the guy asked to see our money and then tried to take it from us! WE said not a chance sunshine and he expelled us from his cab!
We then were told by a group of other drivers that the fare was 12GBP! we laughed and they looked annoyed... we clearly were not new comers to this part of the world! Eventually we got to our hotel for half the price and went to bed - Phil couldnt sleep because he was sooooo excited about the next days cricket!
The taxi drivers here really cant tell their arse from their elbows (as quoted by Mr Tom Leahy) and they cant speak English so getting around is quite difficult in this city of 16 million people! On arrival to the crticket ground Tom did some excellent German style queue jumping, which was assisted by Lins pretty smiles to prevent us from being grassed up to the police! The guy who tried this before us got thrown out by the police. So after avoiding a coouple of hours queing we got into the ground just in time to see the opening bowl. England played awesome - After 4 ice lollies (each) and with sore arses we left the ground in an emphatic mood. Arrived at the ground a little later the next day to find even longer queues. We tried to buy some black market tickets but were unsuccesful but did spot a shorter queue for the more expensive tickets (ie the ones which cost 3.50 instead of 3GBP!) Saw the last 2 English wickets fall and then saw Indias forst 3 fall before having a lovely dinner - at an italian restaurant - with Lemon Cheesecake for dessert (it was so good). We then went to the airport, said bye to tom whose heading to Bangkok and we'll meet him in Phuket after a couple of days. We have had an awesome time in India and Lin cant wait to see Singapore.
