Arrived in toulouse monday morning after 1hr drive from Carcassonne. Toulousse is a town with lots of students and a business district - home of the airbus hq. Population 440 000- with the canal du midi listed as a heritage site. Great town lots of groovy people dressed really groovy. Had a wander around town to get a feel of the place - once again beautiful food at great prices. For lunch entree - liver salad main - grilled pork with baked potatoe and salad = 1...

Stayed at domaine o'vineyard last night- joe liz ryan were great hosts - at the dinner were russians french brits and us. Had a tour of the vineyard wine tastings followed by a fantastic 5 course dinner all cooked by liz - lots of stories were told great night. Today we r staying at a b&b in the old cite -across from a magnificent castle - which has restaurants shops inside the grounds

Uzes is located in the langoudec region - about 8000 odd - a place where one of the roman acquaduct was built to supply water to nimes - 25km away. We are staying in a chateau 4km from the center- arrived in Uzes around 10am what a great village- relaxed arty tree lined streets . We found a thai restaurant - unbelievable - had a delicious lunch - nice and spicy just how we like it.

Our chateau is magnificent -the grounds are beautiful with pool tennis courts table chairs around little private gardens. 18th century building with antiques everywhere. We have a suite on the 1st floor luckily as too many wide steps to climb with heavy suitcases - a sitting room with round dining table chaise lounge writing desk marble fireplace then into our bedroom antique wardrobe gorgeous bedlinen doors opening onto private balcony and bathroom with yellow ...

The arena built 70ad and restored 1860s is used for bullfighting and concerts the movie gladiator was filmed there too - its 5min walk from our hotel. Paul met the GM who gave us an improptu overview of the history andfuture plans - they have had Elton John perform in concert. He was a great guide we didn't need the audio afterall.
