3 days was about right for our time at Coober Pedy - we saw all the sights and had a nice break. Firstly, thanks everyone for the messages you've been posting! It's great for all of us to hear from our friends. Easy start to today with yummy pancakes for breakfast. We dropped Dad off at the Coober Pedy Golf Course and ventured to the public noodling area (noodling is where you sift through the discarded mullock (ie, dirt) for opals). Eventually, we made our way into Coober Pedy town and had a coffee/juice at the Underground Restaurant - George the Greek owner was very friendly and told us all about the history of the restaurant. We then joined the Stuart Range Caravan Park tour bus with 8 grey nomad couples for an afternoon of discovery of Coober Pedy. Kicked off today with a visit to the Woomera Missile Park which has very interesting artefacts from the rocket launching days! Very straight drive ahead of us to Coober Pedy - couple of stops and sights along the way including Island Lagoon, Lake Hart, Glendambo. Renee & Eamon cooked us a great bacon & egg breakfast this morning, and then we were on our way. The road from Hawker to Port Augusta was quite different to the usual - nice winding bends over and under the railway and very scenic. We had a very long stop at Port Augusta to stock up on food, water, petrol etc for the next few days.
