Good morning everybody, this is our first and maybe only blog from malaysia. the picture used is from Kuala Lumpur showing the famous petronas towers. Hopefully in two days we'll be going up there but for now we're 170km north west on an island called penang. We've found a little beach town called Batu Ferringi. It's quite cool with a nice beach, but the waves are that good that there's tonnes of jet skiiers and parasailors who come way too close to shore and get within about 3 metres of your head.
We've been trying to chill out here and save some pennies but in the three days we've been here there's been one decent day of sun. The meals are fairly expensive if you want anything more than fried rice tho there is a really cool restaurant in a replica ship... called the Ship, where did they think of that??
Malaysia as a whole is a bit wierd we're thinking. It's kinda somewhere between the like of India and Thailand. Not as cheap and reliable as Thailand but a bit scabby like India. The locals arn't quite as friendly as thais but not a s bad as those rotten Indians. The weather has been okay but we tend to get the best of it when we're stuck in a minivan , hopefully with air con.
Since the last blog we've been to a few places. Koh samui i believe was the last blog... since then we went to Krabi, nothing going for it except from gogo bars. Over the andaman sea to ko Phi phi (ko pee pee) which was really nice. Had a really nice beach with the clearest sea we've seen so far. We decided to use this to our advantage and race out to a boat harboured about 300 metres away, niether of us made it to that boat!
After a few days on pee pee, we made our way to the southern border of thailand to Hat Yai, a stop off town before making our way to malaysia. In hat yai we decided our last thai meal should be ... KFC. There were no decent restaurants at all. Though the food in malaysia is quite similar so we don't feel as if we missed out. Our signiature dishes we've chosen are lee's fried beef with oyster sauce and steamed rice, and mine is pork fried rice. If it hasn't got chillis in i'm not happy tho, and i miss vinegar :0(
So quite a boring week again, chilling catching the sun where possible and detoxing after the binges of the full moon party and three lions pub on samui, by far our favourite place in thailand. Free pool, food, and much much more...
We now have just 10 days to get from here through kuala lumpur and singapore to catch the first of many qantas flights, to Perth. Currently 19 degrees... that is gonna be a shock after 3 months of 36 degrees plus.
Til next time....
King kong and lee-shy
