We signed up for a 2 day 1 night boat trip to dive on the Barrier reef. We left very early in the moring 7.30 we had to be on the boat by! The boat ride out was very ruff nearly the whole boat was being sick. Liz and I felt very sea sick me especially after eating the egg and bacon sandwich they gave out for breakfast before the boat left. I done a little bit of snorkling when the boat stopped at a coral reef. The sea was so ruff i gave up after my little swim and got back on the sick boat.
Lunch time we arrived at our destination and transfered boats to the Reef encounter ship where we would be sleeping for the next few days. Our first day we were guests so we got waited on. Ate so much whilst one the boat there were two cheifs and the used to work in Chapter1 in England so you can imagine how good the food was. The main reason we went on the trip was to dive i dived about 8 times whilst on the ship. First time was nervous as went down with just a guide i thought had to have an instructor with me but odviously not. Scuba diving the reef was amazing. Made friends with some Hungarians and dived with them for my first day. They had been diving for years so felt really relaxed and enjoyed diving with them. Diving the reef i saw so many different fish, turtles, stingray, starfish and only once even a shark!
After our tiring but enjoyable first day and half we became slaves. We stayed on the ship for 3 more days but as hosties. Basically slave labour it was fun but tiring especially when we had 43 american students on the ship. Our days started at 5.45am yes 5.45am that was very hard getting up at that time. After setting up for breakfast then into the sea for a dive at 6.15 and straight out to serve the second breakfast whilst still wet from the dive. We most were in the kitchen helping wash up and serve the food which was ok, especially as we made friends with the chefs and put our orders in for the meals we wanted. We decided to leave after a really tough day exhausted and i'd dived enough which was the main reason for being there as i dived for free as i was a hostie. So we left and got the sick boat back to Cairns even though everyone was pleading us not to go and trying to bribe us. We left though just in time as they had 49 more annoying american students due on the ship that day.
