Ok, time for the big London update. Internet access in the London hostel was pretty sketchy and didn't like working too well, so I was limited and am now writing from my hotel room in Paris.
I arrived in London late on the 23rd, nothing interesting to report from there. The next day I went to Regents Park and had a lazy day walking around there and checking out the area.
Laura arrived on the 25th. We went to Leicester Square for dinner in Chinatown. Yes, we went all the way to London to eat Chinese. After dinner we saw the Queens Theatre across the road from the restaurant and saw that Les Misérables was playing. We managed to get £10 tickets, the only downside being that we had to stand for the three hour show. Was totally worth it though. I won't mention the casino we visited on our way back, I will leave the casino stories for when I actually win...
Next day, Buckingham Palace. This summer (despite the rain and cold, England still calls this time of year summer) Buckingham Palace is open for visitors. We were able to see the State Rooms, the Queens Gallery and the Royal Mews (where the horses are kept).
Inside the palace is simply amazing, though we weren't allowed to take photos inside the State Rooms. We got to see Kate Middletons wedding dress and the royal thrones (no, that isn't code for the toilets). Unfortunately we didn't get to meet Liz and family, but we caught up with them later.
The Queens Gallery was .. ok. If you like looking at paintings.
The Mews housed various coaches used by the royal family over the years, including the ones used in the Royal Wedding.
On our last full day, we got to meet a whole host of famous people, including the Queen, Prince Harry and William, the Pope, Julia Roberts, Johnny Depp and of course, Justin Bieber.
Yes, we went to Madam Tussauds Wax Museum. We got to start with a two and a half hour wait in line. As to be expected, the statues were amazingly life-like. Morgan Freemans was probably the best one and Nicole Kidmans, but then she looks like a wax statue in real life.
After the museum we made our way to the London Eye, by which time it was raining once again. Luckily the line wasn't too long and we didn't have to wait in the rain.
Thus ending the UK visit.
