Hi Everyone,
Sorry its been a while again - I'm useless I know! Hope everyone is ok at home and those of you who are facing the tedious task of revision and exams, good luck! Things are very good here (despite the lack of sun!) and I'll try and (quickly) recap over what we've been doing since my last blog!
THAILAND
We returned to Thailand after our amazing time in Vietnam and after a brief stop over in Bangkok and a slightly panicked journey when we realised we'd gone to the wrong airport we arrived in Krabi. Krabi was nice but there was not much to do in the actual town which was where we were staying but we randomly bumped into a girl we met in Chiang Mai so we spent the evening drinking with her!
Ko Lanta - we got the boat over to Lanta and despite the weather not being great we really enjoyed ourselves. We were staying in beach huts in this really quiet resort where we spent most of our time lying in a hammock and drinking far too many cocktails titled "Monkey Queen". The most energetic thing we did was wander down the beach! Very nice and relaxing!
Ko Phi Phi - ahh what to say about Phi Phi? We loved it which is amazing considering the weather wasn't that great! Its sooooooo beautiful and relaxed and yet loads to do! Did lots of exploration of the island and a little shopping which is always an essential! We also took a boat trip which was great fun despite the sea being quite rough and say Maya Bay on Phi Phi Lai which is where they filmed the beach aswell as Viking Cave, Shark Cove and Bamboo and Monkey Island! Wicked day out! OUr final day we were completely horizontal as the sun finally made an appearance! Hurrah! A perfect end to a perfect place!
SINGAPORE - is all about shopping and we did not dissapoint! We went a little crazy buying clothes etc and I even made the reckless decision to buy a digital video camera! I blame the heat or something! Orchard Road was amazing and we ended up having to force ourselves to leave for the sake of our bank balances! We also went to Sentosa Island Resort which was great fun and went to the Aquarium and Pink Dolphin Show aswell as a 4D Movie experience which randomly had Eric Idle and Leslie Nealson in it! We also had a gorgeous meal at a restaurant on the Harbourfront called Carnivore! I wont go into details for fear of salvating but if you ever got to Singapore (and are not vegetarian) you MUST got there! We also went to Clark Quay and drank quite a lots of wine! Had to be done though!
AUSTRALIA
Cairns - was smaller than we had imagined! Walked around the Harbour and lagoon and also went to Cairns museum which was interesting! We also took a day boat trip to the Great Barrier Reef which was amazing! Unfortunately the sea was so rough on the way out there that loads of people were sick but luckily we managed to control ourselves (just!) We went snorkling in 3 different spots and saw loads of cool fish (including nemo) and coral aswell as a Stingray (no sharks thank god!)
Airlie Beach - was so touristy its unbelieveable. We used it literally as a jmping off point for our boat trip on the Whitsundays! We took a 2 day, 1 night boat trip on this gorgeous boat called Tall Ship Defender which was built in 1896. It was such a relaxed tour and the weather was actually quite nice! We snorkled at Blue Pearl Bay and the colours of the coral were amazing - so vivid in comparion to the Great Barrier (also very close as the scratches on my foot prove!) We also went to Langford Island and Luncheon bay which was really beautiful.
Rainbow Beach - there is literally nothing here! Like 1 row of shops and yet still we managed to buy stuff! How is this possible!?! We took a 1 day exploration tour of Fraser Island which is an island made up entirely of sand and yet supports a rainforest etc! Its very cool! We were in this hilarious 4WD coach which looks more like a tank! We went for a dip in Lake McKenzie which is soo beautiful, Central Station and Wanggoolba Creek and the surrounding rainforest, the coloured sands, the Maheno shipwreck and for a wander down Eli Creek! It was so lovely and our guide was amazing! We even saw some wild dingos! And managed to get the coach stuck in the sand! All good fun!
Brisbane - it was soo nice to be back in a city and you can definitely understand why the Aussies call it the "liverable city". We went to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary which was so cool! We say Wombats, Emus and  Dingos aswell as stroked Kangeroos and saw so many gorgeous Koalas! I so want one as a pet now! I even got to hold a gorgeous girl koala called sprite! We then went to the Southbank Parklands and the Art Gallery and Modern Art Gallery which were very interesting - especially as they were handing out free transfer tattoos! I cant tell you how cool we look right now! We also wandered round the shops and even paid a visit to a cinema!
Byron Bay - where we are currently and unfortunately due to the weather we haven't got very much to do! Have done lots of walking today on the beach and up past lookout point etc and are trying to organise a didgeridoo lesson for tomorrow! Not sure how likely that will be though!
So there you are, up to date again! We are heading to Sydney tomorrow evening on an overnight bus where we will be for the next 7 days!
Really hope everyone is well and thanks again so much for all the messages and emails etc - its so good to hear from everyone and to be kept updated as to whats going on! Once again good luck to all the exam takers - freedom is fast approaching!
Lots of love,
Laura xxÂ
