Frist proper day in Cambodia - time to explore a bit of the capital! There was a guy in the reception of our hotel trying to sell us a city tour while we were paying for an extra 2 nights, but at $10 each, we thought it was a bit expensive. We walked around the corner to a travel agent we'd spotted last night and booked a tour to the killing fields and genocide museum for tomorrow morning. Time to get back to the mainland...by 8am we were waiting by the 'beach' with our rucksacks, for our return boat trip. Eventually we were all herded into one of three boats and we were away...then we got stuck. We arrived back on the mainland but were told that our bus wouldn't be leaving until 9:30am! The reason for this seemed to be so that we could fill in our Cambodian visa paperwork and hand it, along with our passports, to a guy who was offering to take car...

Another lazy day for us on our last day in Laos! We slept late before venturing out for some breakfast/lunch. We spent móst òf the day in 4000 Island Bar where the wifi was reliable, drinking fruit shakes (water melon shake = yum!) and using the internet. Day 2 of doing very little in Don Det...the island is tiny, with two paths (not roads) that run down each side of the island, a bridge across to Don Khon island and guesthouses, restaurants and bars scattered along each path...that's about it! An early start today to catch our bus to Don Det island. We had to go to the restaurant where we bought our tickets so we went a bit earlier to get some breakfast first. As we were walking in, I managed to trip over somehow, so that's twice I've fallen over while carrying my backpack in the space of a week!
