This man conducted our tour. He worked in the mines in Pennsylvania (the fourth coal producing state) until he was 42, and then he was told he was "overqualified" for all the mine jobs for which he applied. He was not bitter, and he was proud of the hard work he had done in the mines. He was a wealth of knowledge and insight about the work in the mines. He is in his early 70s and helps support himself (and his wife) by conducting mine tours.
