Hey its Lily
Since laura lasted updated the goings on in chile things have been very busy. We left Chile and went on a 3 day tour of the salt flats in Boilva reaching the largest salt flat in the world on day 3. we spent most of the 3 days rocking out to tunes on the i pods while driving through beautiful scenery and visiting various scenic spots along the way. 2 nights were spent in high altitudes and extreme weather conditions. The last day of the tour was the best when we finally reached the salt flat we had loads of fun taking loads of photos we also had a gorgeous lunch cooked by our lovely chef how spent 3 days with us cooking all our meals our final meal cooked by her was lama and it was yummy. we arrived in uyuni on day 3 everyone was very exited as we were told by our tour leader that the restaurant in our hotel had the best pizzas in south America. he was def right the pizzas were amazing so much choice and they really tasted good.
The next day we moved on to our next location in Bolivia ,potosi. most of the day was spent on the bus we arrived at our hotel early evening and had an orientation walk of the city. We had a lovely dinner at a restaurant called 4060 as that is what altitude the city is at. we had a pretty early night as the next morning we were waking up early to go visit the mines. I was worried about visiting the mines as am not great with small spaces but in fact is wasn't to bad i didn't go down to the second level but laura did. we wore very fetching outfits a bright yellow suit to protect our clothing. the best bit of the mine trip was the dynamite explosion at the end. it was so loud and shocked the life out of everyone. the whole trip to the mines was defentily worth it. It was very interesting to experience first hand what the miners do and the conditions that they work it. we had the whole afternoon free and just explored the city as the next day we were moving on again to la paz. It took most of the day and 2 buses to reach la paz. the view on the second bus coming into la paz was spectacular. we arrived early evening and we had a quick talk about our options in la paz me and lau and a few others had already decided that we were going to do the bike ride on the most dangerous road in the world. We also decided to do a city tour. Our first evening was really chilled just went for dinner to this English pub and had an early in preparation for the bike ride. The bike ride was something else. omg!! we started off at 9 all kitted out with elbow pads knee pads etc.. the first part of the ride was about 25k and was on the new road which was fast as it was all down hill but easy because the road was tarmac. the second part was the old road The most dangerous road in world and my god u can see why. this part was really hard all gravel and just very tiring. i really lost of confidence when i feel off i didnt hurt my self because of all the safety equipment i spent a bit of time in the van but got back on my bike after lunch!! Laura was alot more confident than me and was at the front i was right at the back and at the finish line arrived 20 minutes after everyone heheh...We finished about 2 and we were taken to a lovely hotel with a swimming pool near by were we all relaxed in the pool and had a massive late lunch-early dinner. We got back to la paz at 8, the rest of our tour had gone out to dinner and we were planning on meeting them. We all got ready and left around 9.. the restaurant was really nice and we had another dinner as we were still hungry. It was our kind of last night and 2 other people last night on the tour so there was quite alot of drinking and dancing on the tables!! everyone was up for dancing so we went to a club near by and left around 3.30.. the couple that were leaving didnt go to bed they went straight to the airport for there flight!!! Our last day in la paz was spent on the city tour which was interesting we visited a gold museum, the main square, a view point with a lovely view of la paz, moon vally and a witches market. the witches market was really spooky especially the lama fetus. the rest of the day was chilled just did a bit of shopping and packed. we had our last meal with the tour group too in the evening it was very sad to say goodbye to everyone especially as they were all moving on and we were going to be alone!! Alone in la paz very weird feeling. we had breakfast in our hotel and then headed to the bus station to buy our first bus tickets alone to Copacabana. this proved a little hard until the most loveliest man in the world called paulo saved our day. he told us that there were no buses from main station until and that we had to take a taxi to another bus station were we could get bus straight away. the most amazing thing to was that he was also going so we got a taxi with him he showed us which bus to get on.. the bus took 3 hours with a river crossing in the middle again without paulo we would not have had a clue what was happening. Once in copacbana he also showed us some good cheap accommodation and we got an ok room for the night for a pound and also shoed us around the town briefly. Copacabana was a really nice chilled town we had such a nice afternoon it is set on lake titicca so the views are lovely. we rented a pedalo and had a nice half n hour on the lake. our dinner with also very interesting that night we had dinner for a pound too. and it was very random and our trout was sooo well done but what do u expect for a pound. The next day we left Bolivia and started our next adventure in Peru. laura will fill you in she is writing it now aswell. 2 blogs in a day!!! enjoy reading Love you all Lily and Laura (home in 3 weeks we hope the homecoming celebrations are going well)- comments
