Any tips we get over $5, we get to keep ourselves, and any under we put in a tip jar which gets shared out equally (or proportionally to the hours we do) after every month or so. Today Chats counted out the tip jar, and gave me my share in an envelope. I didn't put it in my front apron pocket as I didn't want to keep pulling that out instead of my notepad and pen. Later on I went to the toilet, and looked down… I was weeing on my envelope which must have fallen...

After my lunchtime shift, I met Alice and other hostel people at the lagoon for a few hours- I can't believe it was so hot at 4.30 pm when it is supposed to be winter! Dane had text me that the circus is on and made me walk up the road to see- it wasn't set up yet but I got to see some of the animals, like camels and donkeys and sheep. After cleaning I offered to go to Coles to buy stuff for reception (in a selfish way I wanted some more coffee which we had run out of). Amanda asked me to buy some packs of coke cans and water bottles as they sell them to the guests, which made the trolley very difficult to push around, especially as the streets I had to walk down were sloped so I ended up hitting a few cars, and then as I was minutes away from the hostel, the trolley tipped over- very embarrass...

I didn't sleep well last night either, as I woke up at 2.30 am and couldn't get back to sleep- this is one of the worst colds I've had! I found it very hard to fall asleep last night due to my nose being so runny! Although I felt very strange making it in front of people at the hostel, I made a peanut butter, mashed banana and cinnamon sauce for my pasta which I ate for breakfast and was nice- I might do it with normal pasta some other time!
