Sorry we haven't updated for so long, had internet issues and don't know where the time has all gone.
We stayed in Sydney on Pitt Street at the Footprints Westend hostel which was in a brilliant location but was on a par with Rowenas - the rooms were fine, but it was the cockroaches in the kitchen that worried us!!! So we decided to stay away and eat out!
While in Sydney we enjoyed city life sampling the different restaurants around the city. We ate at an Italian, Machiattos, on Pitt Street, in Chinatown at the Food Court with the locals and on our final night we went to the amazing Pontoon in Cockle Bay Wharf which had spectacular views of Darling Harbour and tasty views behind the bar!!!
We managed to see all the sites taking in the Botanic Gardens which were so peaceful but surrounded by the tall buildings which was great to experience. We explored Darling Harbour and Chinatown before doing a bit of shopping in the numerous shops. We loved the Opera house, the structure is breathtaking to look at with the Harbour Bridge behind. It was so unreal to actually be standing there! We strolled around Circular Quay before visiting the Museam of Contempory Art which was free, but didn't have the most interesting exibits for us to see. We walked through the Rocks - the old part of Sydney, which was good to see and very quaint. We then had a cruise around the harbour in order to see all the sights, it was great fun and really relaxing, we all picked out our houses along the waterfront.
We then headed out to Camden to stay with Lau and Fi's family which was so nice to be sleeping in a real bed rather than a bunk bed!! We had our first BBQ of the holiday which was so delicious - Thanks to Nick! We headed back into Sydney for the day and visited The Rocks Market and then Paddy's Market where we picked up some souvenirs - boomerang and didgeredoo (sp?)!!! We ate at Lenin restaurant on Circular Quay which was great to experience the harbour at night. We also headed out to the Blue Mountains for the day where we saw the Three Sisters stacks, Fi and Sam climbed down to them and walked across the rickity bridge to the first sister. They then had to hike back up the steep steps cut into the rock - lucky them!!! We then took the sky railway down the mountainside which is the steepest decline of a railway. It was really good to do, but Fi was a bit scared!! We walked through the rainforest before heading back up on the skycab which was a glass cable car to take you back up - again Fi had issues!! We saw a Penrith Panther football (rugby) player - Fit!!! We stopped in Leura for lunch which was so delicious it was in a local deli and cafe - yum yum!
Next Mum (Evans) and Bex arrived which was good fun. With them we headed off to Featherdale Wildlife park where we saw all the Australian animals - wombats, kangaroos, kookaburras, tasmanian devils, echidnas, koalas, wallabies, alligators and lots more. We were able to stroke and feed both the kangaroos and wallabies and have our pictues taken with the koalas. We then headed up to Port Macquarie to have a bit of a break at the beach and to see Lau and Fi's Grandparents. We had a really relaxing time we visited the koala hospital which was so cute to see - adorable. We also had a camel ride which was an experience!!! Great fun would definately recommend, even though the guy wiped camel poo on Bex!!! The beaches on this part of the coast are gorgeous. Back in Camden we decided to go bowling - where Lau got called LAV (hello, what was that about?) and Mum Evans looked great in a skirt, odd socks and bowling shoes!!! We did get photographic evidence and we were all pleased with ourselves as we scored points without the barrier up - it's only allowed for those under 10!!
Then Dad (Evans) arrived so we went back into Sydney one more time where we visited our favourite places again as well as the Aquarium in Darling Harbour which was really good. We then ate at a delicious fish restaurant at Darling Harbour called Nicks which was a great night especially when Sam's wine glass was removed by the waiter as he thought she was underage so she ordered a huge cocktail!!!
We had a final BBQ (at Nicks) last night and we are now in Melbourne so will update with more soon.
Miss you all loads xxxxx
