I?m back in Honduras... boooooo! But I?m with Carmen... yaaaaaay! You have to pass through Honduras to get from El Salvador to Nicaragua so I thought I might as well pay Carmen another visit on the way. I also wanted to get a final check up to make sure my parasites had all gone... which they have! I´ve still feel sick and have pain in my stomach but the doc says it can take a while for it to recover properly from the evil little blighters. Got a list of things I can and can?t eat and drink so gotta carry on being special needs for a little while longer! They were so thorough i checking me out... they even did ultrasounds and x-rays! Both of which I´ll get copies of in case I want to while away future bus journeys gazing at my pancreas! It all seemed a little unnecessary but fun all the same and at least i know there are no more gremlins or other nasties. I feel doubly lucky because Carmen´s poor friend Claire ended up getting Dengue fever! The docs told her that she probably got it on the trip we took together to the coast. So it could have been any one of us. Poor girl has had to cut her trip short. She didn´t have the dangerous variety luckily but it was just bloody painful. They don´t call it breakbone fever for nothing! I´ll be slathering on the insect repellent from now on!
I am staying with Carmen and the lovely girl who?s hosting her while she does her voluntary job. Criscia is so nice and has welcomed me into her home too. She?s young, loads of fun and seems to know everyone in Tegucigalpa! So with great company and instant social life I?ve ended up staying here longer than planned! I?m having a little break from travelling for a few days.
I?ll be off to Nicaragua after the weekend. I have decided to skip through Central America fairly quickly now. I want to be in South America by the beginning of August. The Andes and Amazon are calling me!
