We endured a bumpy sleepless night bus ride to Cuenca arriving at the bus station at 5am hungry (I was), cold (Antoine was) and very grumpy (I certainly was!). We arrived at our hotel and went straight to sleep! Once rested and recovered we set about exploring Cuenca... and what a beautiful city it is too. Certainly one of the most beautiful colonial cities I´ve seen so far on this trip. Perhaps one of the prettiest I´ve seen ever. Whilst it is very beautiful there isn´t really a huge amount to do apart from wander the streets and stop for fruit salads and coffee! How decadent! So we spent a few days doing this until Antoine had to make his way to Lima, Peru for his flight home. I hung around for a few more days waiting for my new bank card to arrive (my one expired)... this became tiresome and tedious as there really isn´t much to do in Cuenca. Eventually I made my way to Guayaquil on the coast to catch my bus to Peru... not much to report from there really. It´s hot and ugly and the only nice thing about it was a fellow London girl called Jane who just arrived from Cuba. I shared a room and some stories with her for a day before catching my luxury bus across the very sketchy boarder to Peru. I paid a bit extra for a posh secure bus that ferries you from one boarder to the other as the no man´s land in between is notorious for assaults and robberies. I arrived safe, sound and well rested.
So, I don´t know when you were last in Peru....! (that´s for my Da!)
